the story

My fascination with photography began around age 12 when I first picked up my father's film camera (Canon A1). I devoured photography books and taught myself the craft; I even learned to develop my own B&W and made crude prints in my uncle's X-ray lab. Since then, I have always had a camera around me.

My journey into studio photography started around 2012 when I got my first set of studio strobes, took a lighting workshop in Seattle and started doing portraits for family and friends! Studio photography is a lot of fun because it gives me more creative control both in terms of mood (dramatic/low-key lighting, lively/high-key & aesthetic), as well as to pull the most flattering sides of the subjects in front of the camera!

Portraiture became my main jam for a couple of reasons, on one side, as an introvert, I work better on a 1:1/1:few basis, and on the other side, I enjoy the process of getting the best out of a subject and seeing their reaction. You see, a lot of people hate getting their picture taken. I enjoy the challenge of creating someone's headshot (or portrait) that makes them feel proud. This is really something that drives me.

I came to WA in 2006 with my wife Susanne and my two kids Victoria and Daniel (6 and 4 at the time). I was transplanted by a local tech giant from Venezuela. We fell in love with the Washington outdoors and never looked back. My kids went to one of the Sammamish high schools, and we moved to the Tiger Mountain area in Issaquah in 2020.

As I'm closing a lifelong career in tech, I'm turning a lifelong passion into a career. I joined Peter Hurley's Headshot Crew and took his intensive workshop this spring to perfect my headshot craft. I built a home studio where I have started making the work you can see in my portfolio. If any of that resonates with you, I would be honored to make you a headshot that you feel proud of!
